Basically, the first 17 books can be thought of as offering a new “spiritual foundation” for a “new age,” and the last 11 books can be thought of as offering a new “social foundation” for a new age. It is better if you read them in this particular order, although you may, of course, read them in any order that you choose, as each is written to be read fairly independently of all others; and each book is preceded by a SIMPLIFIED TABLE OF CONTENTS followed by a FULL TABLE OF CONTENTS; and each TABLE OF CONTENTS is mainly written in the form of sentences so that you may simply read the TABLE OF CONTENTS in order to familiarize yourself with the actual contents, then read any specific sections that interest you. However, some books build on the specific content of those that precede them, so the introduction in each book indicates which ones ought to be read in a recommended order for clearest understanding.
The first 17 books are based on four “spiritual texts” that were “handed down” to us during the 20th century by Jesus and other “high spiritual beings” in the universe:
1. THE URANTIA BOOK (published in 1955)
2. A COURSE IN MIRACLES (published in 1976)
3. THE REVEALED TRANSLATION OF JOHN'S REVELATION
GIVEN BY THE LORD JESUS CHRIST TO ARCHIE J. INGER (published in 1908)
4. THE HISTORICAL FULFILLMENT OF JOHN’S REVELATION AS REVEALED BY THE LORD JESUS CHRIST TO ARCHIE J. INGER (transmitted in 1908)
All four of these texts are either by Jesus or about Jesus, the authenticity of which each reader is left to decide about on their own. Each text is fully described in its appropriate place.
The last 11 social books are meant to embody the spiritual lessons contained in these four spiritual texts, plus the Bible, plus all others of the great religions of the world when their lessons are trans-lated into social structures proposed for our new societies as part of a new global society.
There are only a few actual references in the last ll social books about the first 17 spiritual books, but it is the “spirit” of the first 17 books that is designed to be represented in the social structures of the last 11 books. The purpose is to allow us to “spiritualize” our social structures so that we can use them to help create a new global society on the next higher level of consciousness in a new age. Therefore, no proposal should be considered as absolute; instead, each should be considered as thoroughly malleable so that it can be quite readily adapted to the particular political envi-ronment in which it is created. It is the “spirit” of these changes that should be reflected in our social structures, but the actual political adaptations should remain quite fluid. Or these suggestions may be com-pletely superseded in order to make room for far better proposals for transforming our planet into a peaceful and loving environment that we wish to pass on to the next generation.
Therefore, each person who agrees with the spirit of these proposals is encouraged to identify that area of social change with which they feel most akin, and then begin manifesting those changes in their society at some level in some way, for which there are no rules other than to “just do it.” Each new “evolutionary” who chooses to direct their energies in this fashion will be thereby creating what our new global society will look like by formulating a new version of that parti-cular social change as a model for those who follow to consider instituting in their own social environment.
By gathering together a peaceful movement of such evol-utionaries from all across our country and from all around the world, we will be creating the structure of our new global society in a new age, characterized by peace and harmony, which are based on all the greatest religious teachings on the planet.
B. INTRODUCTION TO SIX TEACHING MANUALS
FOR THE URANTIA BOOK
This series of 28 books takes the position that the two most important spiritual texts on the planet are The Urantia Book and A Course in Miracles. “More important than The Bible?” No, not more important than the Bible. They are 20th century “revelations” of the Bible, which allow us to understand more of the Bible than we have been able to understand prior to these revelations; but like the Bible, they are both very complicated and very controversial, so we need to study them over a lifetime in order to continually deepen our understanding of their teachings.
However, in order to reduce the time it takes to unlock the teachings of Urantia and Miracles, a series of six teaching manuals is offered here for each text, with the expectation that they are meant to prepare a student to study the original texts; so the manuals can be very helpful in making that transition to the original texts because of the sheer volume and complexity of these two texts, which volume and complexity are significant barriers to their serious study and deep understanding.
For instance, this series of 28 books starts with six teaching manuals for Urantia, recommending that a student first read Part IV of The Urantia Book, titled “The Life and Teachings of Jesus.” These “Jesus Papers” are the very heart of the teachings of Urantia, and they can be read fairly easily without the help of these teaching manuals. However, the Jesus Papers refer to perhaps 125 concepts from Parts I, II, and III of The Urantia Book as if the student is already familiar with these concepts:
Part I: The Central and Superuniverses
Part II: The Local Universe
Part III: The History of Urantia
Part IV: The Life and Teachings of Jesus
“So why not read Urantia from beginning to end?”
• We do not recommend that you read the “Foreword” first, but last. It has so many definitions that are so difficult to understand that it might discourage you from reading even one more page.
• Nor do we recommend that you read Parts I, II, or III before reading the Jesus Papers. Each is incredibly interesting, but much of it is incredibly difficult, and you do not need to understand most of what these parts explain in order to get to the heart of the Urantia teachings in the Jesus Papers. So Parts I, II, and III may also unnecessarily delay you from reading the Jesus Papers.
• We do, however, STRONGLY recommend that you first read “Part IV: The Life and Teachings of Jesus.” Then either read it again and again before you read anything else, or start reading these teaching manuals to help you understand the un-explained references within the Jesus Papers. The point is that the Jesus Papers are the most important spiritual text that we have on the planet; and they are so perfectly written that it is hard to imagine how they could be improved upon or even simplified into one of these teachings manuals, so they are not simplified into a teaching manual. Instead, the Jesus Papers are recommended as required reading for anyone who wants to truly understand the most important spiritual teachings available to us that can help us understand the purpose of life and how to fulfill that purpose. These claims are made without proof, other than the reading of The Urantia Book, which will speak for itself and allow you to make up your own mind about its value and source.
However at some point in time, you may wish to familiarize yourself with the referenced background material that is found in Parts I, II, and III. And that is where these six teaching manuals can be most helpful. Specifically:
1. 100 UPDATES OF THE BIBLE ACCORDING TO THE URANTIA BOOK collects selected information that is now available to us from Urantia, which can best help us understand in splendid detail the basic teach- ings from the Bible that we are already familiar with. For instance, “What did Jesus do from the time he confronted the rabbis in the Temple at age 12 until he started his ministry after age 30?”
2. THE TEACHINGS OF JESUS ACCORDING TO THE URANTIA BOOK lists the principles of his teachings in an organized fashion and then uses passages from the Jesus Papers to help explain those teachings as supplements to the Bible.
3. ATTAINING WORLD PEACE BY PRACTICING THE PRINCIPLES OF THE URANTIA BOOK collects passages that can be most helpful to us in our efforts to create peace on our planet; and who is a better teacher to create peace on the planet than the “Prince of Peace”?
4. THE SPIRITUAL ASCENSION PLAN OF THE UNIVERSE FROM MAN TO GOD ACCORDING TO THE URANTIA BOOK describes the steps in the universe that we must master in our attempts to “become perfect like our Father in Heaven is perfect.”
5. THE SPIRITUAL HIERARCHY OF THE UNIVERSE FROM GOD TO MAN ACCORDING TO THE URANTIA BOOK describes the structure of the universe from God all the way down to us on our little planet earth--called “Urantia-- where we begin our eternal quest to find God and become like Him.
6. THE DISPERSION OF RACES ACCORDING TO THE URANTIA BOOK describes how earth became populated with a total of 12 races of various compositions.
C. INTRODUCTION TO SIX TEACHING MANUALS
FOR A COURSE IN MIRACLES
The author of A Course in Miracles identifies himself as Jesus, and makes his case, so spiritual teachings don’t get any better than this, especially those that teach specifically how to choose between the inner voices of the “ego” and “the Holy Spirit” for our guidance through life; but it is very hard to under-stand, so the following six teaching manuals will help you to study Jesus’ teachings in a simpler organization than the original text of Miracles:
7. ATTAINING PEACE OF MIND BY PRACTICING THE PRINCIPLES OF A COURSE IN MIRACLES collects the simplest and most important teachings of Miracles that can be specifically used to attain peace of mind.
8. ATTAINING WORLD PEACE BY PRACTICING THE PRINCIPLES OF A COURSE IN MIRACLES gathers together the teach- ings of Miracles that can best help us create peace on our planet, to be used in conjunction with ATTAINING WORLD PEACE BY PRACTICING THE PRINCIPLES OF THE URANTIA BOOK.
9. FROM HERE TO HEAVEN BY PRACTICING THE PRINCIPLES OF A COURSE IN MIRACLES describes in great detail how to hear the “Voice for God within us” as guidance to become more and more joyful all the way to Heaven, to be used in conjunction with THE SPIRIT- UAL ASCENSION PLAN OF THE UNIVERSE FROM MAN TO GOD ACCORDING TO THE URANTIA BOOK.
10. A TEACHING MANUAL FOR ADVANCED STUDENTS OF A COURSE IN MIRACLES gathers together the next most diffi- cult concepts to study in Miracles after the simpl- est teachings have been explained in the first three teaching manuals.
11. A TEACHING MANUAL FOR MORE ADVANCED STUDENTS OF
A COURSE IN MIRACLES presents yet a more advanced set of teachings for students who wish to take the next step in the study of Miracles, which passages focus on the dynamics of the mind, topics concern- ing “The End of the World,” and 75 Bible passages re-interpreted by Jesus.
12. A TEACHING MANUAL FOR MOST ADVANCED STUDENTS OF
A COURSE IN MIRACLES presents a collection of the most difficult concepts from Miracles for students at that level, plus a list of minor concepts not included elsewhere.
D. INTRODUCTION TO FIVE TEACHING MANUALS
FOR THE BOOK OF REVELATION
Five teaching manuals are made available here in order to help unlock the mysteries of THE BOOK OF REVELATION. It is the last book of the Bible and was written by the apostle John Zebedee when he was in exile on the island of Patmos off Asia Minor, near “the seven churches of Asia.”
John’s Book of Revelation has always been a mystery to understand because of the extensive series of about 250 major symbols that John uses to narrate his vision, which symbols may number closer to 300 if every minor symbol is counted that is not included here. And since there has been no way to reliably assign accurate mean-ings to all of John’s symbols, every reader has as-signed their own, so we have had as many interpreta-tions as interpreters over the last 2,000 years since John wrote his revelation. Its persistent mystery has created a significant frustration for gospel readers because of Revelation’s many references to "the latter days." Therein we are to expect a whole range of dis-asters, culminating in the “final Battle of Armaged-don,” when the forces of good and evil finally battle it out with each other to determine the future of life on the planet, followed by Jesus’ Second Coming to clean up the mess.
So the main problem in trying to understand the Book of Revelation is that we need a score card to keep track of all those 250 symbols that John uses in his revela-tion. Fortunately, in 1908 just such a score card was "handed down" to mankind in the form to two revelations given to us by Jesus, himself:
1. THE REVEALED TRANSLATION OF JOHN'S REVELATION
GIVEN BY THE LORD JESUS CHRIST TO ARCHIE J. INGER
2. THE HISTORICAL FULFILLMENT OF JOHN’S REVELATION
AS REVEALED BY THE LORD JESUS CHRIST TO ARCHIE J. INGER
[These two books will hereafter usually be designated simply as the Revealed Translation and the Historical Fulfillment, without quotations or underlining, just like the Bible, Urantia, the Jesus Papers, Miracles, and the Book of Revelation. And bolding will be added to help the reader locate the important points.]
Jesus wastes no time introducing himself as the author in the first sentence of the first paragraph of the Introduction to the Revealed Translation, where he foretells his “last coming upon the earth”:
“I, the Lord Jesus Christ, am the writer of this book by revelation through this medium, Archie Inger. I have [in 1908] interpreted the meaning of John’s Revelation, which should be interpreted in this day to prepare the way of my last coming upon the earth. The correct interpretation is herein given, and with it many necessary spiritual laws by which man may reach The Kingdom of Heaven, if he will be diligent in the light and path herein given.”
The medium, himself--Archie Inger--in his Introduction to the Historical Fulfillment, describes Jesus as the source of these two books, as follows:
“The Truth regarding the future existence of man dawned upon me in a manner more strange than any dream. It was indeed the dawn--[t]he dawn of a new day following a night of darkness; [t]he dawn of a new life; and it came when nothing less could have made this life seem worthwhile. In the hour of dis- belief and rebellious despair, a strange experi- ence visited the house of my mother and myself in which for three weeks we communed with Angels....
“During this marvelous revelation, the writing of a book was predicted. Three years later, the book was written, being revealed to me in the form of a vision from Heaven. The Christ appeared and told me things which I recorded, crudely perhaps, being unskilled in letters--nevertheless accurately, and in a manner pleasing to Him who revealed it.
“After a volume had been completed, and which was published under the title, ‘The Revealed Transla-tion of John’s Revelation,’ which contained the spiritual significance of that part of the Scrip-tures, there followed a new revealment containing the historical comparisons between the symbols of John’s revelation and history itself. These I was commanded to withhold until I should receive per-mission from The Spirit to publish them. This per-mission I now have, and will publish them that all who desire may read. After this introduction is concluded, I assume no further credit, but write as if I were the Christ speaking, for I am merely re-peating His words as nearly as it is possible for me in my weak way to repeat them.”
The Revealed Translation does, indeed, provide explana-tions for at least 212 of the major symbols in John’s Revelation, then the Historical Fulfillment provides meanings for another 38 symbols, totaling 250 meanings. The truth of whether these two books were “handed down” to mankind by Jesus is, of course, to be evaluated by each reader; however, these teaching manuals assume as truth that these two revelations were given to us by Jesus through a "medium" named Archie Inger in 1908, as hard as that may be to believe for many. The two books are so impressive and so brilliantly presented that they force us to ask the question: “Who else except Jesus could possibly have managed to so brilliantly recite such meanings for 250 symbols that John used?” And the next question we are forced to ask is: “If Jesus didn’t write these books, then who else could have written them?--some monk in a monastery in Asia, who then signed Jesus’ name to them and immediately disappeared back into his monastery, never to be heard from again? That seems highly unlikely. The conclusion embodied in these five training manuals is that there is no one else who could possibly have written these two revelations. So the question of authorship goes unproven in these teaching manuals, other than to present them exactly as they are while assuming that they were written by Jesus exactly as he says, so we will proceed on that premise.
The importance of these two new revelations by Jesus that he gave us in 1908 is that we no longer need to be so fearful of the future when we try to interpret the Book of Revelation literally without these two 20th century interpretations. Most significantly, they add all new meanings to those frightful “doomsday” proph-esies we have heard so much about, the most fearful of which is the one describing the “Horsemen of the Apocalypse,” where:
• a white horse and its rider and followers are envisioned killing lots of humanity with a bow;
• a red horse and its rider and followers are envisioned killing lots of humanity with a sword;
• and a pale horse--whose rider is called “death” and who is followed by “Hades”--are envisioned killing a fourth of humanity with a sword, hunger, death, and the beasts of the earth.
And that’s just one paragraph. You need our new score card to keep track of all the various “beasts” that are prophesied to be attacking us from one side or another in “the latter days,” which days are already here.
But truthfully, massive killing of human beings doesn’t sound at all like the way our God of love would try to establish the Kingdom of Heaven on earth, by dividing up humanity into two sides, with each side calling itself good and calling the other side evil, then doing everything possible to destroy that evil over there on the other side of that dividing line. Instead, that sounds like the way we humans would try to create peace on the planet. In fact, that is exactly how we went about trying to create peace during the 20th century, as a result of which we killed 300 million human beings in one kind of blood bath or another. Maybe that’s why Jesus sent us four revelations during that same century in order to tell us that he still loves us, that he is still our teacher, and that he is still going to teach us how to create peace on the planet if we will study his teachings and then do it his way rather than our way. Have we done that? No. We still sound like John, whose generation 2,000 years ago thought creating peace meant making war, so John always speaks in terms of KILLING MEN (or something similar), whereas Jesus always speaks in terms of KILLING MEN’S WORKS (or something similar). Does that mean we have not made any progress since John’s generation? No. We have made lots of progress in terms of our ability to kill lots of humanity all at the same time and even from great dis-tances so we don’t need to get our own hands bloody. But is that progress? No, that’s not progress. Progress is learning how to love your neighbor as yourself, and then learning how to love your enemy, all over the planet.
In fact, Jesus says in his own two revelations that these Horsemen of the Apocolypse refer to the times of the Roman Empire, not to the latter days; and the Roman Empire has been dead for about 1,500 years now, so we can relax about that. And to the extent that these Horsemen might apply to the latter days in a spiritual sense, they are not predicted by Jesus to go out and kill one-third of MEN, but one-third of men’s WORKS. These “works” are what Jesus refers to as worldly “formations” that men have created from their own self-wills without the guidance from God’s Will. So when we consider this new vision of our future described by Jesus, we can simply set aside those former visions and start all over. Those visions were based on symbols that we understandably mis-interpreted for 2,000 years; however, they had the effect of petrifying us with fear of the latter days when all this massive killing is prophesied to take place, which means right around the corner somewhere.
Instead, a “new day” is dawning for peace on the planet, referred to in these spiritual textbooks as a “new age.” So now there is nothing to be afraid of any longer because there is not even going to be a final Battle of Armageddon, except within each individual’s own heart between his own will and God’s will. So we may now see our futures filled with hope and promise for a new beginning of our civilization, as it rises to a whole new level of spiritual understanding given to us by Jesus. This vision involves the creation of a “New Jerusalem which comes down out of heaven from God” wherein we treat each other--in the Kingdom of God on Earth--altogether differently than we have until now, this time based on the laws of God rather than on the laws of the jungle. That’s a whole new world of possi-bilities when compared to the vision of a final Battle at Armageddon.
So let’s see what the Book of Revelation really says when we read it with the help of Jesus’ hopeful re-interpretations. The first three teaching manuals can be seen as background information that has been re-duced, step by step, from 250 symbols, to 63 symbols, to 40 symbols in the fourth manual titled NO MORE “FINAL BATTLE OF ARMAGEDDON SINCE JESUS RE-INTERPRETED THE BOOK OF REVELATION IN 1908. There, 40 of the most fearful prophecies in the Book of Revelation are listed, along with their hopeful re-interpretations by Jesus. So if you want to go directly to the truth of the Book of Revelation after 2,000 years of mystery and confusion, then start by watching the end of this movie first by reading the fourth manual, then go back to get the rest of the story line later, but the fourth manual is where this story all leads.
These five teaching manuals are presented here in the following order:
13. THE BOOK OF REVELATION BY JOHN ACCORDING TO THE REVEALED TRANSLATION BY JESUS matches the original verses in John’s Revelation with 212 interpreta- tions of those verses by Jesus in his own reve- lation given to us in 1908 titled THE REVEALED TRANSLATION OF JOHN'S REVELATION GIVEN BY THE LORD JESUS CHRIST TO ARCHIE J. INGER.
14. THE BOOK OF REVELATION BY JOHN ACCORDING TO ITS HISTORICAL FULFILLMENT BY JESUS matches the original verses in John’s Revelation with an additional 38 interpretations of those verses from Jesus’ second revelation given to us in 1908 titled THE HISTORICAL FULFILLMENT OF JOHN’S REVELATION
AS REVEALED BY THE LORD JESUS CHRIST TO ARCHIE J. INGER; however, these passages are mainly limited to John’s prophesies which are fulfilled in actual historical events, with only a few “spiritual” interpretations included among them.
15. A COMBINED VERSION OF JOHN’S BOOK OF REVELATION ACCORDING TO JESUS’ REVEALED TRANSLATION AND HIS HISTORICAL FULFILLMENT weaves together the find- ings of the two teaching manuals preceding this one into 63 symbols, partly by eliminating certain verses and their interpretations which are consid- ered too unimportant, too difficult, or too con- fusing to contribute to a simplified version, which is the objective of this book.
16. NO MORE “FINAL BATTLE OF ARMAGEDDON” SINCE JESUS INTERPRETED THE BOOK OF REVELATION IN 1908 is the simplest of these four teaching manuals because it reduces these preceding three volumes of informa- tion to a simple list of 40 fearful symbols and 40 hopeful meanings, which meanings have been as- signed by Jesus. The good news is that we can now eliminate from our minds the doomsday prophesies of blood and guts where we picture the forces of good and evil battling it out to the death in the “end times.” These apocalyptic visions have mainly been put in our minds by the Book of Revelation’s gra- phic descriptions of endless carnage. Instead, our two new revelations by Jesus allow us to see our- selves entering a new age of peace on the planet, just like everybody has been hoping for, but were too scared to think was even possible before these new interpretations came down to us to give us that new hope.
17. CONSISTENCIES AND INCONSISTENSIES AMONG THE URANTIA BOOK, A COURSE IN MIRACLES, AND THE BOOK OF REVELA- TION’S TWO INTERPRETATIONS BY JESUS matches pass- ages from all these books according to where they are consistent or inconsistent; however, this book does not attempt to explain why the passages are inconsistent, but only brings these inconsisten- cies to light as a matter of academic integrity so that each reader can evaluate these differences on their own. And a few comparisons bring together passages just from Urantia and Miracles plus the Bible without involving Revelations.
E. INTRODUCTION TO TEN PROPOSALS AS THE SOCIAL EXPRESSION OF THIS TOTAL “PROPOSAL FOR WORLD PEACE” TITLED “PEACE PLEASE”
18. TEN SPECIFIC PROPOSALS FOR WORLD PEACE summarizes the details spelled out in the ten books that follow it, which together are offered here as the social expression of the spiritual foundation laid out in the previous 17 teaching manuals as part of this broader “Proposal for World Peace” called PEACE PLEASE.
19. NU ECOLOGY expresses the need to take drastic steps now to prevent “global warming” from melting our ice caps, thereby steadily raising the ocean lev- els, eventually flooding all of our coast lines. This process unchecked will sooner or later create unimaginable havoc for our planet as millions and maybe even billions of people seek higher ground-- unless we can prevent this expected calamity by massive global cooperation.
20. NU ECONOMY spells out ways that we can channel our economy to continue to create wealth, but distrib- ute it more fairly in our country and around the world.
21. NU CORRECTIONS offers a highly sophisticated pro- gram to train prisoners in the behaviors of a responsible citizen so they do not return to crime and prison, thereby systematically reducing crime.
22. NU SOCIETY pictures what our society might look like if we were to re-structure it according to the same principles we use to train prisoners in the behaviors of a responsible citizen. If it works to teach prisoners responsible behaviors, it will also work to systematically reduce crime in the general population.
23. NU GLOBALISM offers a vision of how we can join with all the other nations on the planet into a global society that first joins forces to save our planet from ecological disaster, and thereby learns how to live together in peace and harmony on a salvaged planet.
24. NU PIONEERS suggests ways for people to dedicate their lives to helping create the new global structure that we need in order to save our planet from ecological disaster, and then to live together on it in peace.
25. NU SIRITUALITY presents a complete spiritual foundation on which to create a new age of peace on the planet at the next higher level of spirit- ual consciousness, meanwhile using those same spiritual principles to unite us into a single global effort to control global warming and thereby prevent global havoc.
26. NU MENTALITY offers an examination of the question of good and evil, our response to which will greatly determine the level of stability of our global society that we create.
27. NU SEXUALITY spells out ways that the sexes can see each other as the right and left hands of nature so as to live together in more healthy relationships.
28. NU LITERACY claims to be the fastest system avail- able for teaching illiterates to read in both Eng- lish and Spanish in just a few hours of teaching by most anyone who can read; then it can be reconstructed into most other languages on the planet that use a “phonetic alphabet,” meaning they assign letters to sounds, except those that are “ideographic” like Chinese, which assigns symbols to ideas.
